When Only Love Remains – A Book Review !!
Any Indian who loves to read books would surely know about Durjoy Datta. He has recently launched another book that is bound to become a bestseller – When Only Love Remains. For the uninitiated, Durjoy Datta is one of the best-selling Indian novelists who got his first book – Of Course I Love You (which incidentally turned out to be a best-seller) at the age of 21. His other best-sellers are – Ohh Yes I Am Single, If It’s Not Forever, Now That You’re Rich, You Were My Crush and She Broke Up, I Didn’t have found prominence and turned him into a literary success in the Indian Subcontinent.
His latest book – “When Only Love Remains” released on 19th June, 2014. Few days later, he came to my city for the promotional tour of his book. I was fortunate enough not only to meet him personally but also get a signed copy of his latest bestseller.
The story is about Avanti, a flight attendant. No matter how much sad she is, one voice is enough to bring a smile on her face & that voice belongs to none other than Devrat. Devrat is a struggling singer who wants to make it big in life. He is a passionate guitarist who dropped out of an engineering college to make a career in the world of music.
A break-up in the past with Arundhati, the love of his life made him even more passionate toward his only other love – Guitar! The story also features Sumit who is a friend-cum-secretary to Devrat. Devrat is a habitual smoker and drinker, a habit which Sumit tries to make Devrat abstain from. Sumit also tries to make Devrat see the fault in his ways as he is not at all serious about his singing assignments.
The first time Devrat & Avanti meet each other in a bar; they gel up quite well and wish that the night never ends. They spend quality time with each other and Devrat is amused to find out that Avanti was the one who made 20 fake accounts; just to encourage him to sing & publish his songs more on his website!
First half of the story of When Only Love Remains is ordinary like any other love story but the second half is interesting and teaches a lot about hanging on to our loved ones and clinging to the slightest ray of hope. The story contains a lot of emotions with love dominating the majority of it. The story goes on a slow and steady pace but there are moments in it when there is a gash to everything.
I would surely recommend the book – When Only Love Remains to all those people who love reading Indian romantic stories and are into the emotional side of love! It will make you smile; cry and want fall in love.
